Florida Trip

My best friend Sara and I had a wonderful girls weekend to Ft Lauderdale, Fl two weeks ago. We could not have asked for better weather; sunny and light breeze with highs in upper 70's. Despite purchasing the essentials at a local cva: champagne for mimosas, chips, beer, disposable cooler and sunscreen I still managed to get fried. This is how I managed the sunshine on Saturday to minimize the burn.

Sara and I spent some time at a local dive joint for pizza on Friday for lunch. It was so good we had to follow up on Saturday for their legendary sandwhiches: meat & provolone grilled on italian bread with a hand full of fries on top and coleslaw. Yum! Wish I got a pic of this because they were unbelieveably large & delicious! We finished up with local cuisine where I sampled "dolphin" a.k.a mahi mahi & a local mexican food hole in the wall with fabulously strong margaritas!

Co-Ed Engagement Shower

While visiting family back in Kansas, Rob and I had our first engagement shower. Tara, Rob's sister, was gracious enough to host and put together a fabulous co-ed shower.
All of the siblings at the shower

Tara had us play this fun little game. I had to feel the 'pecks' of a line of brave gentlemen and had to correctly pick out Rob from the line of uncles, cousins, and brothers. I succeeded with little difficulty, therefore Rob thought he'd like a turn. He quickly changed his mind when he found out he'd be feeling mother, grandma, sister and future wife! Needless to say there were a few laughs!

Opening gifts from our very generous family & friends. Rob was like a little kid on Christmas, we could hardly slow him down from rapidly opening all the gifts. A huge thank you to Tara for hosting our shower & another big thanks for everyone who attended. We are blessed!

Howdy Y'all!!!

Howdy y'all from Texas! With all of the exciting changes coming into Rob and my life in the next few months, I decided it might be time to begin a blog spot. Being so far from our family and closest friends, we can now easily share all of our adventures while being away from home.
So you may be asking me why does it read 'The Malones' already when we're still 130 days away from making it official? In all honesty, life is very chaotic right now and I'm in desperate need of simplicity. We've been in the process of joining bank accounts, researching all the hoops to jump through for changing my name and all the paper work ahead for bills, licenses, etc and it is just plain exhausting. Mike and Teresa told me over thanksgiving that they've already updated the name in their cell phones to 'Ashley Malone' in preparation of the switch. Therefore, I'll join in line and prepare the blog for the exciting changes that lie ahead!
As we prepare for the holidays and the wedding the entries will be scarce and scattered I'm sure but please feel free to check back often, as I will try to keep everyone up to date on the latest news from Texas!
